I've had these stands for about 3-4 years and to be honest i never noticed much (if any) performance gain from them. I only really bought them for placement. That said, I've never drilled any holes for the top spikes or filled them with sand and I don't think they're particularly solid as they're omn the carpet (with spikes) and one of them feels a bit wobbly. Shouldit really make that much difference if I fix them properly and fill them with sand?
Right now, I have the speakers sitting on top with blutac in between which prevents them from sliding off. There are holes on the top plate on each corner and I have the 4 spikes which screw into place so the spikes point upwards. Their are also 2 kind of stop gaps/grooves on either side of each spike. Am I supposed to drill a hole in the bottom of the speaker the same diameter as this point in the spike so that the speaker nests neatly on the spike. If so, how am I supposed to know what size drill piece to use and do I drill all the way through?
Thanks.
