Can anyone help me, I just purchased a Michell syncro & have oiled the platter spindle it spins freely then as it settles it stops & rests flush on the spindle & is very stiff any suggestions? thanks for any help here

I’d return it! Did you buy it non working?

It’s ancient now, though a lovely design, but maybe there’s a ball bearing missing from the bearing sleeve? Is the platter at the right height?

Should there be a ball bearing at the bottom of the well where the spindle sits?
 
Yes, normaly wolframcarbid steel ball must be below spindle. And several drops of high quality oil. After many years of use, it is good to make precise cleaning of the bearing hole. Than it shall work.
