Merlin interconnect conundrum

Background: I have a couple of of sets of Chord Crimson Plus cables, Merlin Chopin.

When I fitted a Sky box there was a heavy hum out of one channel. Finally narrowed it down to a faulty Crimson. Found spare pair of Chord Chrysalis cables in the cupboard, but they are also knackered.

Spotted a pair of Chopins on the auction site. Chord Crimson are about £53.00 a set now, but for around £40.00 I could have the Merlins. Question is are there better interconnects I should be considering (use with either Sky box or DVD player) other than the Merlins?

Save yourself £39 / £52 with these. You won't be able to tell the difference.

Yep, expensive cables are a waste of money, as they make absolutely no difference to the sound. (Try a blind test if you don't believe me)

Hope this helps

Very good idea, let us know how you get on 🙂

Btw, how did the other two pairs get broken? I bet your home made ones will be more robust!

Not sure - the Crimsons I can only guest I pulled on the lead, as opposed to the socket. The Chrysalis I've had over ten years unplugging and plugging.

Chord used to offer a 10 year waranty on cables, may be worth contacting them to see if yours are covered, I had a problem with a Cobra cable a few years ago and they repaired it and returned the cable free of charge and were extremely efficient.
