MA BX2 Best cable with Denon * confused newbie sooo many cables*

HI

Really stumped newbie what speaker cable to get for some Monitor audio BX2's? Looking around I have seen the Chord Carnival, XT evolution, and QED anniversary do speaker cables really make a difference?

I seem to see online that the BX2's can be a bit bright and I prefer something neutral sounding with punchy bass so trying to pick a cable that will get me that?

With respect, you won't notice that much, if any difference, whatever you buy. Given your concerns about brightness, you could go for the Carnival Silverscreen, beware it's adder-like in its thickness if you have to pass it over/under things.

However, you might be better off buying generic speaker cable, getting used to that sound, then upgrading if you think it's worth it. This will give you more time to decide what you want to spend. Get used to the sound of your system before worrying about cables, as I say, whatever difference there may be in different cables in your system, it's not going to ruin things for you. Perhaps visit a dealer and audition two or more cables if it's so important.

You may find it isn't that important.

I'd give some 322 strand a try. Multistrand copper cable - I replaced some Audioquest Type IV a while back and it's remained on top of the wardrobe since then. The 322 strand is excellent. 10m for £5.50 - delivered. Your choice obviously, but you needn't spend a silly amount of money on this hobby and treat some of the claims around the capabilities of this stuff with a healthy dose of objectivity and a smidgin of scepticism.

I recently made my own cable using 3 strands per side of Cat5e network cable. Which sounds silly but the results were actually quite astonishing. It was very easy to do if just a little time consuming and fiddly, and you end up with one rather fat cable, but as i said, the results were really quite amazing and much better than expected. The weight, attack, dynamics, you name it, it improved everything tangibly.

Network cable is cheap, although i had loads of the stuff lying around anyway so thought why not give it a go, so you have not a lot to lose apart from an hour or so of your time.

I found out how to do it after reading an article called the naked truth about speaker cable and its the full frequeny range cable.

One thought that occurred to me was that the cable it replaced was by Mordant Short, which was about 20 years old, and looked very cheap and basic (it was given to me by my father) and it may have been awful, so getting a good result wasnt difficult, and i havent compared it to anything else. However it didnt cost me any money and was well worth the effort.

I'll suggest you considering using standard 79 strand OFC speaker cables (which should cost very liitle) as these will be more then good enough.

I see the mention of cable gets into a bit of a debate on this website lol! I looked at that van damme cable looks good for the money would the 4mm be ok?

I don't have any reports on sound quality yet though hence the cable firstly, I brought the unit from online and they was a bit tight on the cable front! (none!!)

That chord carnival looks like hose pipe looks a bit OTT for a small unit I guess but if it sounds good then I guess its worth the effort to install it?

There is no effort to install Carnival Silverscreen any more than any other speaker cable you have to strip, in fact it's really easy.

However, you have been advised more than once to buy 79-strand speaker cable for less money and audibly the same results so I suggest following that advice, forgetting about the bloody cable and listening to the music.
