Hi,
I just can't seem to find the item I'm looking for - so I turn to you good people for your thoughts. 🙂

I'm looking for a superb sounding device (I like bass) that does / has the following...

Portable (i.e. garden use)
Battery / Mains
Great sound and fairly loud volume
DAB
Dock

Nice to have internet radio but not essential

I cannot see anything that has all what I need... am I blind?
Any ideas?

Thx Ox

I actually have the Vita Audio R1 - which to me looks identical (I guess a name change)...

Do you know if you can get a charger case for my one...?

Do you know of anything with a bigger sound, its ok but looking for more depth

Ruark have always been Ruark but made their radios and all-in-ones under the 'Vita Audio' name at first. So your R1 is the same thing.

If you need something - portable - to sound loud and deep and full in a garden then I don't know what to suggest really. With no reflective surfaces it's going to need a pretty hefty speaker to do all that (even more of an 'ask' if driven from batteries).

I think the stereo Pure Evoke 2S can use an optional battery pack but I don't know if it is louder.

Thanks guys - I think the rechargeable battery will be a nice investiment - as it does sound nice.

Why dont you look at the Ruark R2 ?

I have both the R2 and the Pure Evoke 2 - okay the R2 is not so portable but it is neither gigantic. it has that beautiful Ruark / Vito sound that you get with a R1 but the added bass that you are looking for via it's subwoofer / bass port hidden underneath. No internet radio though but much better sounding than my Evoke.

Not cheap either and no battery which might be a key issue for you ? Just a thought - if not the Evoke might be worth an audition as it ticks all the boxes.

It doesnt have any of the built in features you are looking for but the best sounding portable speaker I have heard in real life (ie not in a shop but in someone's home) is a Marshall ipod speaker. If you have a smart phone, just stream the radio station you want and scare your neighbours with this - http://www.marshallheadphones.com/product/hanwell

Expensive but sounds great!
