Used to read What Hi Fi alot before i went to uni and alas student accommodation and hi fi dont really go together so i lost touch a bit.

Here is what ive got so far

Speakers: Mission M74's

Amp:

Marantz PM4000

Cd :

Sony XE-220 (got an idea this is my weak spot )

Using QED Original Cables.

Anyway overall im quite happy with the sound i get, high and mid range seem great but i listen to a fair bit of rock and metal and it can get quite muddled with busy pacey music. I prefure a tight sound with clear tight bass if i was able to improve my current set up in this way id be happy ;)

Ideally the sony would go as it would be easiest to replace, have a budget of 100-200 i guess. Also what would be a good interconnect ?

Thanks!

go on to ebay and pick up a second hand cambridge audio 640c. i replaced mine with a £900 musical fidelity player and it was only a little bit better than the 640c. that player is amazing. then when you get the extra cash get back on ebay and buy the matching 640a amp
