London hi-fi shops handling VAT refunds?

I'm planning to buy an SACD player (probably Arcam or Marantz) before moving overseas. I'd like to reclaim the VAT, but according to HM Customs this means I have to buy from a retailer that supports the VAT Retail Export Scheme (apparently they need to be able to issue a VAT 407 form, whatever that is).

Do you know of any London hi-fi shops or chains that participate in this scheme?

Thanks in advance.

I would have thought all hifi shops can provide the VAT forms. When I was in the UK, all the hifi kit I purchased, I managed to get a VAT refund when I move back to Malaysia. The only hassle was in Heathrow Airport as the customs would need to see the product that was purchased. Hence, you would have to hand carry them or claim the VAT first before checking in the luggage.

In London, I know for sure I managed to get VAT refund forms from Richer Sounds.

I would call and ask them first as Dixons in Gatwick are supposed to operate the scheme airside but don't always have the forms. You also have to produce the goods at point of exit to reclaim the VAT. The large department stores (John Lewis etc) have special Export desks.

I believe you also have to produce evidence of overseas residency to be able to participate e.g. we usually have to produce passports from overseas so that the forms can be completed.
