Lg HT953TV & Sony Playstation 3 via HDMI

Hi,

I recently bought an Lg Scarlet 2.0 47 inch Tv, Sony Playstation 3 & now am planning to buy Lg HT953TV 5.1 Home Theatre System. You might be aware of the fact that Lg HT953TV has an HDMI In port which allows to connect any gaming console or blueray player with it. Now my question is that if I connect Sony Playstation 3 to Lg HT953TV via HDMI cable & play a 5.1 channel audio enabled Blueray disc or any PS3 game disc then will Lg HT953TV be able to detect the 5.1 signal which PS3 player gonna stream through the HDMI cable?

Well, it certainly insinuates that it will. However, I can't find anything in the manual which tells you exactly what it will accept via the HDMI. The LG unit doesn't decode Dolby TrueHD and the other HD codecs but this doesn't really matter for the PS3 - unfortunately, it doesn't mention if it accepts multichannel PCM or not though (which would allow you to enjoy HD sound from the PS3), or even standard Dolby Digital / DTS - though you can always hook up the PS3 via optical for those if not.

Unless anyone else here can help, I would suggest asking your dealer exactly how it will work before buying.
