hi
may i ask if the is the Marantz PM6007 no longer produced ?

becuase on marantz usa or global site there is not anymore in the list

but it's still on sale on many stores
thanks

I’ve not seen anything saying it’s discontinued, but you’ll notice it’s the only series left with that styling. The newer amps all look quite different, as do the disc players and streamers.

Here is an example of what the successor to the 6007 is likely to look like.

I looked up the release dates of the last few iterations, according to Mr Google:

PM/CD6004 Aug 2011
PM/CD 6005 Sept 2013
PM/CD 6006 May 2016
PM/CD 6007 Aug 2020

So at least timewise due for a change although I'm sure many other factors may influence this.

i have never liked the plastic cheapy knobs and and the front lateral plastic cover
but i think they will not change it
so there are 6 years

I've not had a Marantz amp yet but had the CD6004 for years until I changed it for a CD6007 last year because of its hi res capability, it might sound a teeny bit better.

I question whether they will bother at all, and whether it's truly cost effective for them in the current market.
That's what I was thinking. How many more improvements can they make and how cost effective would they be? I suppose that hi fi companies like to refresh their products regularly otherwise they look old and outdated? Also, if stock is running low I suppose you may as well make some changes rather than doing another production run of an 'old' product.

I think the changes are often as you say because the original 50,000* unit batch has run out, or a vital component has been discontinued. Also, as you say, the never ending need to look new, get more reviews, etc!

Always launched at £499, then £350 within a year, that is my only dislike with Marantz. Oh, and UK tuned editions, which has a long history thanks to Ken I.

* sheer guesswork - any better ideas?

* It would be interesting to know but those numbers seem to be kept confidential it seems. It would also be interesting to know if they do a big production run that would last them for years or if they manufacture in smaller batch runs over time. I recall that the CD6007 had a problem with its original DAC chip so had to be substituted for another so that would suggest the latter.

Was that a supply issue? We know that AKM had a massive blaze that destroyed their supply, and several brands re-engineered accordingly for ESS designs.

Yes the chip factory burnt down so it seems the early CD6007's had the original chip as advertised but the later ones had a replacement.

hi
may i know how many models are there ?
the uk model is for the europe market and sold in the europe ?
I think Matthew has given the answer above. I’m not representing Marantz, I was more reflecting on various editions of the past. The PM6007 seems to be the only current model of that style, but as mentioned above, the other amplifier models are all carrying the new design, so this model has surely a limited lifespan.

There was a UK Edition of the PM6006, but I don't think that has been the case with the PM6007.
hi
may i know what the uk edition has more than the other editions?
and about the pm6006 sold in France ,Italy and Germany , what is was ? the uk model or the global model

I *think* it was simply some minor sound tuning - nothing to get excited about - and the PM6006 sold in Europe was the global model. These things really are nothing to get excited about. This range of amps has been decent entry-level stuff for years, but nothing more than that, and given the way things have changed, I think Harman (now owners of Marantz and Denon) will likely call time on the range. Like nopiano, I'm not representing Marantz, but making suppositions based on some understanding and long term knowledge of the market.
