iPhone 4 review flawed

Alls I said is that no one cares about flash. Honest, real people don't care, that's the point I made. They really dont, its on its slippery slope to go chill with floppy disks and parralel ports. Thats all realy long, so I'm going to leave it there and go out on my mountainbike.

Am I allowed to like my iPhone 4 without being a 'fanboy' or being 'rabid'? (I didn't queue up all night for it, or 'high-five' the staff, or utter any whooping noises when I bought it a year after it's launch.)

It does what I need and using AirPlay is a treat.

If I didn't already have (and prefer) iTunes/AirPlay, I would be happy to consider buying a Samsung Galaxy.

Fanboy

You've never fervently supported Apple products chebby, so don't worry. :cheer: Lack of flash annoys me a lot, to be honest, as many websites I visit support flash. In fact, some have flash as their main page.....meaning I can't even get past it to visit the site! Otherwise I would never have switched my laptop on as I am more than happy surfing on my iPad.

NOBODY'S TALKING ABOUT FLASH! Except you, as it appears to be the only string to your argument.

To be fair...

A phone with a single-core 800Mhz (clocked) processor with limited video/audio format support and no support for flash or java etc

And it does always seem to come up whenever any one writes about the negatives of the iPad / iPhone (or in the articles and blogs I've seen it has anyway). It does seem that some people do regularly visit websites that use Flash, but I have to say I don't know of any websites I use which rely on it.

At any rate, it's definitely not worth arguing about.

Which is why I wasn't talking about it.

Once widgets and animations and live notifications come to Apple (IOS 5) which no doubt Steve Jobs will contest that Apple invented - you will see how slow Iphone 4 is. It seems fairly fast at the moment purely because it only supports static icons.

No flash support IS a big deal and when u add it to NO JAVA support over 50% of the internet is unavailable to you.

Apple fanboys (whathifi included) can say what they like but to give a single-core 800-Mhz cpu 5/5 smacks of favouritism to me. I prefer to go with what the majority of hardware sites have to say - and Iphone 4 is badly outdated both in terms of hardware and software (at least until October).

Now a new dual core Iphone 5 with IOS 5 will make it more competitve - but to to give the current Iphone4+Ios4 5/5 is complete bollocks !!

Well big boss got it, why didn't you counter with what he said? That was the logical point to make. btw my article was 6 months newer than yours, I just can't post it as FT is subscription only.

I had a lovely ride by the way. Tested out the new trails including the red run at Ashton court, very good fun, but I think a rigid fork was a failed experiment and I need to go back to a suspension fork. (since this thread is officially off topic, I feel this is related information 😉 )

Because, as I've said about three times now, I WASN'T countering your comment about Flash, I very carefully NEVER MENTIONED Flash in my original reply. I was ONLY correcting your incorrect assertion that Apple was the smartphone market leader and that the contest was somehow over.

btw my article was 6 months newer than yours

Erm, yes, that's why I chose that article, to show that Apple haven't been the market leader for 6 months.

Why can't you just be happy that other people are happy with a different choice? It doesn't make your choice any less valid, I don't understand why you feel so threatened by this? The iPhone is an excellent product, Android is an excellent product, there's no right or wrong answer here, what's the problem with that?

Good stuff this.

I have one of these, costs me £10 pcm and does everything I need.

Though I find the cellotape I use to hold it together gives the ringtone a rather harsh edge.

@Andrew: Thank you for agreeing with me. Although I didn’t hear the radio show you mentioned, I guess it was about the denial of flaws on the iPhone 4 by fanboys.

@Another Joe: As you might understand, I can relate to your feelings very well. It seems like if a product starts with an 'i' it'll be awarded 5 stars instantly.

@al7478: If Apple would introduce that handset today, calling it a "magical experience which turns the world of mobile phones up side down", iSheep will line up days in advance to get one (and it will get rated 5 stars here ;-)

I didn't. It wasn't.

Who wants to actually read responces to comments on the internet? That just gets in the way of the "Truth" 😉

Pettersson, you have been a member here for 8 days now and you have only managed to write two posts protesting against some people's choice of mobile phone.

You are very lazy.

I have seen some really magnificent, passionate, witty, erudite and downright entertaining one man forum protest campaigns against Apple (and it users) that make yours look positively lame.

Please try a bit harder.

Try Duck Tape instead, I find it tames the errant high end quite nicely...

I've met a lot of people in the highlands and Islands who would totaly be up for buying iSheep. I've helped out on a Fank, and getting the non-i-sheep in the gate is difficult at best. If Apple could create iSheep that happily qued up in an orderly line, well, sales would be astronomical in Scotland, Wales and New Zealand. The Sheepdog union would have something to say about this however... There is always someone who thinks Apple have ill intentions.
