It seems to me that the Infocus X10 projector could be the IN80 in disguise!

It looks the same and appears to have the same specifications, yet its price is up to £500 cheaper!!

Does anyone know if my suspicions are true?

(ie should I buy an X10 immediately :) )

It's true that in most regards the two projectors are very similar, but having just checked with CSE, UK importer and distributor of InFocus kit, the official explanation is as follows:ÿ

"The IN80 has measurably better brightness and contrast than the X10, which uses a similar engine, but has been designed to be more of a general-purpose movie/gaming projector priced for on-line sales exclusively. The IN80 is intended for specialist home cinema dealers and installers who can offer demonstrations and professional installation. The IN80 carries an improved guarantee of three years, with one year on the lamp. The X10 offers just two years, with six months on the lamp."

Thanks for the response Andy and the effort of checking with the importer, but after comparing specs, I have found this:-

X10-

1200 Max ANSI Lumens combine with a native contrast ratio of 2500:1 to
emit a stunning image right out of the box, and with the onboard active
iris this contrast can be increased to 7500:1 with the simple push of a
button.

IN80-

The IN80 continues the tradition, also boasting a contrast ratio
ranging from 2500:1 (native) up to 7500:1 (iris-enabled) and a video
optimised brightness of 1300 ANSI lumens -

For an added brightness of 100 lumens, I definately wouldnt pay an extra £500, if thats the only difference, warranty excepted.

Anyone who can burn out their lamp in less than 1 year must have it on permanantly lol.

Should you maybe get an X10 to test? (If possible)

Funnily enough, when I checked on the Infocus website, the IN80 wasn't listed?
