I have to admit, this is difficult as I love so many artists and albums. The Cinematic Orchestra Live at the Albert hall will always have my heart as I was there when it was recorded. Best show I had ever seen and when I listen to it I am taken back to the Royal Albert hall, hair standing on end.

Shirley Bassey - A Foggy Day in London Town. It moved me when I first heard it 50 years ago, and still does so today.

There are three albums that changed the way I thought about music, Highway to Hell, The Final Cut, and Joshua Tree. There are dozens and dozens of others that also had profound effect, but these three are to me the brightest neon signposts.

At the moment that would be MTV unplugged in New York by Nirvana. Varme Mennesker by De Lillos and Appetite for Destruction by Guns would be the albums that i have listened to the most i think so i may fall back on those. In reality there are so many its hard to pick but those 3 comes to mind first.

Album...."1194" by WOOB.

Wow, that brings back memories, although I was much more into Woob 1194

If it were one album, I suppose it'd have to be Aphex Twin- Selected Ambient Works 85-92

Peter,

Like the great (and sadly missed) John Peel, my "top 10" music box is a constantly changing and evolving thing, but 2 permanent residents would be:

Best Track - "She Sells Sanctuary" (12" extended live version) by The Cult because it was the first track I played on my first ever owned seperates system; original Wharfdale Diamond speakers, QED 79 strand speaker cable, Sony amp and Duel 505-II turntable. Awesome! When I sold the system to a mate, I made sure it was the last track I played before boxing it up! Then when I got my latest system (three years ago), it was the first track to be played (after running -in) but this time on CD instead of vinyl. Oh how times have changed!

Best Album - "Whatever People Say That's What I'm Not" by the Arctic Monkey's. When I first heard it my socks were well and truly blown off!! Goosebumps and all that. First album in a while I could'nt just play once, had to be two or three times back to back! Reminded me of first hearing Joy Division in my mates brothers bedroom on his Pink Triangle turntable and NAD amp. That was when the hifi bug bit and I was cursed forever with an inability to tolerate poor quality music!

Happy days!!

I've got to say that I am loving the combination of this thread and Spotify!

Shouldn't take without giving so as hard as it is, and my mind will change in 5 minutes, my favourites and what I think is the best are 2 different things.......

Track - Unfinished Symphony, Massive Attack

Album - New Gold Dream, Simple Minds. It's not the best recorded album, nor has the best songs but it is probably my most played and I find something new every time. And the fond memories of course......

Michael Jackson History. A bit odd because one CD has the classics and one has the new music. The recording is spectacular and can make an amazing system sound holographic. Definatley the one to be played if you want to show people that have a basic knowledge of hi-fi what a real system can do and make them understand the difference of listening to music into an experience.

Current Album: Imran Khan's 'Unfforgetable.' Finaly someone has made a modern relevant use of India/Bhangra lyrics with modern music that has incredible dynamic reach and the guy was only 18 when the album was being made hats off. I know probably all of you would be think who's that, but it gets boring stating the obvious or classics Led Zepplin, Nirvana, Radiohead (Still can't work out why OK Computer is regarded as being so good but appreciate their work in some ways). Imran Khan's album gets played almost everyday on my equipment. Sorry if you peeps don't undrstand the language but plenty of music of other types are heard and appreciated even though the language may not be understood.

Don't know.

A few fave tracks would be:

Joyce - Aldeia De Ogum, Fela Kuti - Water No Get Enemy, Electric Prunes - General Confessional, Pekka Streng - Puutarhassa (Extended Mix), Night of the Iguana and Oregon by the Cinematic Orchestra. Lambchop (Up with People, Paper Bible, My Blue Wave.) Coro Miyare by Fania Allstars, Blue In Green, Equipoise by Max Roach. Something by Tortoise...

Like I said, I don't know.

Fave LP might be:
