Improving Tv sound.

A friend is unhappy with the sound from an LCD tv. We need a chaepa way to improve it. Is a pair of active speakers the way to go, she doesnt want the hassle of a separates or all in one system. Which ones if any are recommended?

Thanks for this. Any cheaper options though? I thought i had seen in what hifi active speakers for around £100, would they be an improvement?

any basic amp and basic speakers might be better than the tv's sound
