Heh-heh, spiny norman! I'm glad that you do selective quoting though, not just sending all of my guff back, only the relevant bit!

On AVForums they thought it was quite good.nugget2014 said:gel said:It does HDR with a firmware upgrade at about 350 nits just not 500 nits which might not be a big difference.bigboss said:It's a shame to miss out on the biggest advantage 4K which is HDR technology, despite paying top dollar (a price which almost certainly will get the LG 2016 4K OLED HDR model at launch, or within few months of launch).
350 nits is quite poor for HDR..
On AVForums the guy who demoed the Panasonic on HDR said it was impressive.Son_of_SJ said:gel said:It does HDR with a firmware upgrade at about 350 nits just not 500 nits which might not be a big difference.bigboss said:It's a shame to miss out on the biggest advantage 4K which is HDR technology, despite paying top dollar (a price which almost certainly will get the LG 2016 4K OLED HDR model at launch, or within few months of launch).
Gel, I don't see how you can say that 350 nits isn't significantly below the new Ultra Premium specifications for OLED, which is 540 nits peak brightness. Not good.
Dont know to be honest, I will have to demo first but I usually wait to get an ex-display TV which is what I have done here.nugget2014 said:If I had that money I would of gone for 2016 oled at around £2500 when at end of cycle and still be an amazing TV..
What will you do gel when you see the g6 flagship reach £3500-4000?
i don't think that G6 will go on my stand though.gel said:Dont know to be honest, I will have to demo first but I usually wait to get an ex-display TV which is what I have done here.nugget2014 said:If I had that money I would of gone for 2016 oled at around £2500 when at end of cycle and still be an amazing TV..

I think his name is Phil Hilton (it's in the Panasonic OLED thread).Son_of_SJ said:gel said:On AVForums the guy who demoed the Panasonic on HDR said it was impressive.Son_of_SJ said:gel said:It does HDR with a firmware upgrade at about 350 nits just not 500 nits which might not be a big difference.bigboss said:It's a shame to miss out on the biggest advantage 4K which is HDR technology, despite paying top dollar (a price which almost certainly will get the LG 2016 4K OLED HDR model at launch, or within few months of launch).

Fair enough then. Who was it that demoed the Panasonic OLED on HDR?
Thats what my dad said! *smile*Son_of_SJ said:gel said:i don't think that G6 will go on my stand though.
Gee, not again about your apparently immovable stand, no matter how good the television might be, to you your stand seems to be the most important thing, grrr! And the (65-inch) version of the LG Signature OLED will overhang your Optimum stand, but not by too much, for heaven's sake.
Cheers for the advice, but I am comfortable with my purchase, in fact I can't wait.nugget2014 said:i'd advise you to send it back...and get the g6 later on and a new stand for yourself to fit it. IF you 100% had to have a new tv..it would be better in the longrun
Just found it - cheers! Not a bad idea that, I will have a think about it. Cheers for that.Joe10155 said:gel,
How about the BDI Arena freestanding TV mount 9972
www.bdiusa.com site and look for Arena 9972)
Although the UK website says for screens 40" - 60" max 80Kg; the american site says 40" - 70" max 175lbs it appears to be the same stand!
The UK must have a greater factor of safety built-in.
Nope, I definitely want this TV mate. Yep, I thought I would treat myself.buzz_lightclick said:Well I noticed Gel was selling his LG OLED TV over on Avforums and that brought me here to see exactly what he had replaced it with.
Not surprised it's a 4K OLED, (though I am surprised he's gone for the mega expensive Panasonic); kind of predicted it after he pulled out of the 2 Pioneer plasma deals a few weeks ago. Those cancelled purchases had to be replaced with something else; it was only a matter of time, after all.
At least you seem to be happy now Gel, but will you change your mind again, before it is delivered?

Oi cheeky! I ended up trading it in, now not for sale but I had plenty of watchers on eBay at £1250.Son_of_SJ said:buzz_lightclick said:Well I noticed Gel was selling his LG OLED TV over on Avforums and that brought me here to see exactly what he had replaced it with.
I can't help noticing that someone called space4 is selling an LG OLED that is identical to gel's. Except that he is asking £200 less than gel is, his went on sale 12 days before gel, and no, he hasn't sold his yet either .... Bit of a shame that there isn't more demand, because the LG 980W OLED is so good, gel kept telling us that! *blum3*
