hello,

i want to buy an amp that will work with the following speaker packages:

Q Acoustics 2000 Walnut | 5.1 Speaker Package | Richer Sounds
or
Mordaunt Short ALUMNI SYSTEM Black | 5.1 Speaker Package | Richer Sounds

i dont understand how to match an amp to a speaker set. i dont have any knowledge of audio and its difficult to find a guide on the net that doesnt expect you to have prior knowledge.

how do i work out the specs the amp needs, so that it can drive the above speaker packages as good as possible? speakers will be used purely for films, so good dialogue sounds are essential.

i already have this http://www.richersounds.com/product/...ky-txsr308-blk
but i dont know if its good enough.

thanks.

If you already have the Onkyo, keep it and try it. Should be perfectly respectable performance, and as you're using purely for films not worth trying the Marantz / Yamaha alternatives.

Like most things you get what you pay for eg the Onkyo 608 would be better, but not necessarily noticeably so with your chosen speakers.

you should be fine with your setup, and as for films the onkyo should be one of the best out there!

personaly speaking, you will never find something that punch you and gives the full movies effect like the onkyo do's , my next choice would be the pioneer.
