I have recently bought a Panasonic 37LZD70, and i am looking into getting a blu ray player to complement it.

Everywhere i seem to look everyone seems to suggest that the PS3 is the best option as a future proof Blu Ray player? Is this the case or would there be a better player (around the same budget) that you would recommend for my TV?

The PS3 is a great machine and nothing comes close at that price point at the moment. Obviously that may change as the year progresses - the new Panasonic players look very good and Sony are releasing new prof 1.1 players in the summer. The new Panasonic DMP-BD30 looks to be your best alternative at the moment as it's around the same price point.

Thursday's new issue looks at a some of the latest Blu-ray players.

Speaking entirely personally, I like the PS3 for its uncanny ability to read a Blu-ray disc in under two minutes, something that's often beyond more expensive, dedicated players. Honestly, you can see why Keith Moon used to heave electronics out of the window...
