Does anyone know where to get a schematic diagram for an Akai AM-26 Stereo Integrated Amplifier?

Not to be confused with the AM-2600.

I think the AM-26 was made in the 1980's or 90's

Contacting Akai Professional and exhaustive internet searches have not been successful.

Welcome to the WHF forum!

The usual place I go is Hifi Engine, but as you’ve probably discovered, they have the AM-25 and 27, but not the 26. Are either similar, because it’s rare these updates herald huge changes?
Thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at the 25 and 27 to see if they're similar.
It's really weird, I've hunter the internet and it's as if Akai never made the AM-26. No tech stuff at all. Links to AM-26 take you to AM-2600. D'Oh!

Ah! I've got a problem. I tried to register on the HiFi Engine site but it's not accepting new members! Can you or anyone else get the service manuals for the AM-25 & 27? Dropbox or something similar to download them? I would be most grateful.
Cheers

No schematic but I have this amp and had this problem, one channel stopped working. First check all those ribbon connectors, here's what I did to fix mine:

The 3way ribbon cable to the bottom board near the big caps (image -in1) I think is the link from channel select/EQ/preamp to the power amp section. When you push down on the top flat part of the connector (chopsticks!) and wiggle the ribbon cable it will release. It's L/R with ground in the middle, one can twist and install it backwards. Now pre left goes to power right and visa versa.
- if the working channel switches speakers it's a fault in front of that connector
- if it doesn't, the first section is probably putting out stereo but there's a fault in the power amp section

Mine switched speakers and sound was fine. Turns out one of the ribbon cables from the Volume/Balance to the Loudness/etc PCB was installed poorly (image -in2). Not pretty but makes sense, it worked for decades before moving houses a couple of times..

Fixed that and checked/cleaned/wiggled all similar connectors, been playing like a charm since!

I had (still have in the attic) the Akai-27 and reading this thread I feel tempted to give it a place in the house again. I loved the warm sound of it.
