How Can I Change Channels

Guys, I have my new Sky HD box as well as AV amplifier underneath my staircase connected to the TV in the next room via an HDMI lead. The distribution box is in another part of the house with 4 cables from the Sky box to the amplifier. However i am unable to change Sky channels in the main room without having to open the door and point the remote at the Sky box.

Is there another solution to changing the channels in the room without having to run a 5th cable from the HD box to the amplifier? I do have a magic eye but i somehow do not think that RF1 outputs 9volts to enable this to work.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated and please let me know if I have not made myself clear.

Going off at a slight tangent, how big is the understair area and what is the ventilation like? In my personal experience heat build up can be at least be partly to blame for some of the reliability issues surrounding SkyHD boxes. It migh be something to bear in mind if you start having problems with the box. (although is its anything like my under stairs cupboard, frozen components would be more of a problem

If you run an RF co-ax cable from RF2 on the back of the sky plus you can add a magic eye to this.
Also enable power to RF2 in the settings and you should be good to go.

So run the RF cable from the Sky+HD to somewhere that when you add the magic eye to the end it can been seen my your remote.

You need/get both both an rf transmitter and receiver in the kit.
The RF transmitter receives IR signals from your Sky remote, converts them to RF and transmits them to the receiver which you locate near your Sky box. The Rf receivers, then convert the RF signals back to IR and have an IR emitter that you stick on or near to the IR sensor of the Sky box.i

The OP is already using the RF2 out to feed a distribution amp located in another part of the house,so would need to run a cable from the amp back to the TV,or that's how I read it!
Hence the suggestion of using RF extenders.
