What have you done/are doing to get the best sound from your system?

Real problem room here but that’ll change this year. Difficult to make the speaker system sound as good as it did previously but I kind of got used to compromise somewhat. Used most days but my headphone system is coming up trumps.

Room is the limiting factor, obviously there are things you can do to address this. Headphones are impervious to room acoustics but to get some sort of parity with speakers, you need to invest in a quality headphone amp and headphones (preferable planers 🙂 )

I do believe simple cost effective tweaks can also improve the sound, such as mains purifiers and noise filters. The claims I make are subjective because I have no way to measure this. It isn't the same with cables where you either except the merits of it or dismiss it entirely. Cleaner mains is rooted in common sense or science, and the results are audibly noticible.

I know the room is where it all starts, and where the biggest gains are to be made. Unfortunately, other people live there... so i fiddle with speaker positioning and some cushions, blankets, etc. I wish i had a proper listening room.

One of the reasons i chose KEF at the time was the Uni-Q tweeter that isn't fussy. It lets me keep the towers facing (almost) straight so the staging remains wide and doesn't lose center focus. It seems to work well, but i change the distance and angle from time to time. I should probably look into ways to measure/correct/optimize.

Wireless? 🙂
Just love how everything in the photos are pristine, no interconnect cables, just perfect for the lifestyle you seek.
I once saw a system where the chap had run his speaker cables inside speaker stands through a hole in the floor, under the floorboards and up through the floor. He had an electrion install a socket behind his system so the power cable wasn't seen.

I commented on how tidy it was. He thought I was joking and everyone did exactly the same as him.

In the lounge, I have wall speaker binding posts installed, two front and two rear. The long speaker cables run behind the skirting boards.

So the only cables you see are those running from the speakers to the adjacent wall socket.
It keeps the missus happy 😊
