Room is the limiting factor, obviously there are things you can do to address this. Headphones are impervious to room acoustics but have to some sort of parity with speakers, you need to invest in a quality headphone amp and headphones (preferable planers 🙂 )
I do believe simple cost effective tweaks can also improve the sound, such as mains purifiers and noise filters. The claims I make are subjective because I have no way to measure this. It isn't the same with cables where you either except the merits of it or dismiss it entirely. Cleaner mains is rooted in common sense or science, and the results are audibly noticible.
