Hi I currently own Naim setup with B&W 705 standmount speakers.

The cd player is cd5x, pre 122x and nap 150x

Now I have come into some money so am able to upgrade.

I was thinking of either a cdx2 or selling my kit to get a Bryston setup.

I have available £7000 plus any proceeds from selling kit.

I want a setup that is geared for rock/metal music. with an emphasis on bass and not too bright treble.

Ideas include Musical Fidelity, Naim cdx2, Bryston BCD-1 Coupled with a Bryston Amp.

Im open to suggestions - any advice is gratefully rec'd.

Not sure how much you'd get for your existing kit, but let's say you're pushing up towards £8K total. It's not clear from your post whether you want to keep the B&Ws. Assuming you don't, I'd look at a Devialet 110 (£4.5K) with a relatively modest CD transport (e.g. Rega Apollo R at £500). That'll leave £3K for speakers, which are, of course, very much a matter of personal taste and what suits your space. If you plan to keep the B&Ws, then you could trade up to the Devialet 170 and a better CDP. Matt

EDIT: meant to say that the Dev will deliver crystalline, transparent treble that's totally smooth.
