Hey.

This is my first topic, so bare with me, if i`m missing something.

I bought this surround system 1.5 years ago: http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/tv-audio-video/home-entertainment/blu-ray-home-entertainment-system/HT-C9950W/XEU

I`ts never worked, and finally i have got Samsung to give me my money back. Victory!

A plus is they have let me keep the speakers, so now i`m looking for a 7.1/7.2 receiver, and a subwoofer.

I`ts going to be hooked up to my ps3.

Things i would like the receiver to be able to do:

3D passthrough /3D ready

Airplay

DLNA

Ethernet

4K passthrough

Bluetooth

I`m going to use it to watch movies, play music, and play video games.

I have looked a little around and found some different receivers. But i need some help to make sure i buy the right thing.

Marantz 7007: http://www.marantz.co.uk/uk/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=HomeTheatre&SubCatId=AVReceiver&ProductId=SR7007

Denon AVR3313: http://www.denon.co.uk/uk/Product/Pages/Product-Detail.aspx?CatId=hometheatre&SubId=avreceivers&ProductId=AVR3313

------- Marantz 7007 and Denon avr3313, are they kind of the same?-------------

Yamaha RX-A1020: http://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio-visual/aventage/rx-a1020_black_u/?mode=model

Pioneer SC-LX56-K: http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/42/98/405/SC-LX56-K/page.html

Onkyo TX NR818:
http://www.eu.onkyo.com/en/products/tx-nr818-80265.html

Those cost from 1250-1580 dollars. Is it worth the price over this:

Pioneer VSX-922-K: http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/42/98/405/VSX-922-K/page.html

Wich is priced at 475 dollars.

Can any of these receivers work with the speakers i have?

Regarding the subwoofer, i have absolutely no clue what to look for. So would be great, to get some suggestions. Can i get a good subwoofer for 500 dollars?

This got a bit long, sry ;) Hope i´ts not too hard to get through.

Hoping for some helping replies in anyway.

Thanks in advance!

Those Samsung speakers are a part of "home cinema in a box" system. I'm not certain if they would work with any other receiver. Need to confirm the speaker connections. Even if they do, I don't see any point in going for those high end (expensive) receivers as the speakers are unlikely to bring out the sonic difference.

How much did you pay for the Samsung system initially? (could give a rough guide to the quality of those speakers).

Also, do the speaker cables have 'standard' connections at the end? (eg bare wires or banana plugs) or do they have bespoke terminals that connected in to the main unit?

If you particularly like the speakers and they have standard connections on the cables then you could stick with them, but as BigBoss says there's no point paying big bucks for a Receiver if it's several leagues above the speakers (as you won't hear the money you've spent).

In terms of subwoofer, Velodyne and REL are well respected makes so could be a good starting point, and Monitor Audio and B&W are also good in my experience, though I'm guessing your in the States so not sure what brands are available other there.

Thanks for the comments!

the wires are the kind where you "screw" them in.

I Paid 2000 pounds for the surround system when i bought it.

I have thought about that question myself, if a receiver of that price, would even benefit the speakers i have.

So it will probably be a good idear to start with a cheaper receiver. I just allmost allways, prefer quality instead of low price.

Subwoffer - if i should find a subwoofer between 200-400 pounds, wich would be the best to buy?
(i have looked at so many, and it´s hard to figure out what to pick)

Hey.

I found this info on the speakers:

Included speakers 4 x satellite speaker - external - 165 Watt - 140 - 20000 Hz - 3 Ohm - wired, 2x rear channel speaker right / left - external - 165 Watt - 140 - 20000 Hz - 3 Ohm - wireless, 1 x center channel speaker - external - 170 Watt - 140 - 20000 Hz - 3 Ohm - wired, 1 x subwoofer - external - 240 Watt - 40 - 160 Hz - 3 Ohm - wired

Now that is known, what should i look for in a receiver, and subwoofer? To make it work together.

p.s. The subwoofer was also the receiver.
