Help Please! PS3 defaults to 576p on HDMI when connected through Onkyo 606 on HDMI to Sony 46x3500 TV

I've tried soft reset on PS3 to detect new HDMI settings, but it keeps only finding 576p! (Onkyo picks up audio formats OK though)

When PS3 is connected direct to TV and reset it finds 1080p straight off.

Sky HD is also connected through Onkyo 606 on HDMI and resolution changes to 1080i fine.

I've tried changing around port assignments and cables but same problem consistebtky happens.

Fix greatly appreciated!

It could be an RIHD problem, in that the receiver is telling the PS3 it should send 576P because of some conflict in the signals being sent over the HDMI control system. Try turning off the RIHD system on the Onkyo - it might do the trick...

Can you not just use Custom on your PS3 when setting the Display settings and manually tick the box for 1080p?

Thanks but tried that. If I go to custom and select 1080p and click "test screen", the picture just blanks. Reverts to 576p after 30 seconds!

What's the Onkyo set to? Is it set to passthrough?

Yes, pass through.

Are you 100% certain that PS3 is using HDMI and not still defaulting to component cables - I had a similar problem when trying to connect mine.
Is the menu on the PS3 set to HDMI out?
