Andrew Everard:Why? It has 17 five-star reviews already - why do you need another opinion?
I would guess the reason for 'Asking' ............ is so the experts (in this field) who have the resources and experience and who can compare the cables side-by-side should and would be able to supply a more definitive answer (?)
After all, we already know that 'reviews' on sites such as Amazon are often written by the same person, using several different user ID's (if at all needed to post a comment) and very possibly they work for that actual company who either makes or supplies the item being reviewed?
Whilst it is all well and good for your magazine to review Cables from the likes of QED, VdH, Ecosse, Chord, etc ..............etc ............ and rate them all quite highly, not all of us have deep pockets and can afford the high prices these cables command. And in many reviews I have read where cheaper cables are commented on (albeit very briefly), no real explanation as to the differences in quality is really explained.
So how about a 'Credit Crunching' review on some of the cheaper cables such as the one mentioned in this thread, compared with the high flying and more expensive ones I keep reading about in the magazine and on this site?
Don't get me wrong, quite often you do 'Get What You Pay For' ..................... but there is often a cut off point where ''Quality'' does NOT improve, despite the price increasing? ................. (Case in point) ..... How is it QED cables are rated quite highly, but a rival magazine can afford to give away a £75 (supposedly) 1Mtr HDMI cable if you take out a £47 Yearly subscription .............. [I've just received my Cable and will be cancelling my Trial Subscription as their magazine is no where near as good as What Hi-Fi!!!].
So how about it then ............... a test between these 'budget-end' cables and some of the 'mid-range' & 'upper-range' ones ............... ???
