I have the real heavyweight (85kgs) KV-36HQ100B that I have always been disappointed with due entirely to motion blur even tho its set to 100Hz. This is why i am now looking to change to a plasma ... either the Pioneer 428XD or the Panasonic 42PZ85B.

I came across a thread on here while researching my choice of plasma that mentioned the Sony was pin sharp BECAUSE of being set to 100Hz. Where have I been wrong for the past 3 years? Have I not got it set up right? If the viewing quality can be improved, maybe it would be worth keeping as a set for the kids to watch in their bedroom.

Any ideas gratefully received

I can not say if you have your Sony set up right. However, if motion blur is something that is important to you Plasma, in my opinion, is much better. Plasma deals with fast motion, like sport much better than LCD. It also has much more natural colours. Black is BLACK, not grey like LCD. The Pioneer is a real peach of a TV, and many on here would say that is the one to go for.

is it all "blurry" round the players from close up like a halo type effect - or mosquito noise as they call it.

I've got a 32FQ80 - £1500 in its day and its great from a normal viewing distance but close up shows the picture processing aint as good as one would have hoped. From a normal its perfect though --- same sort of thing with yours?

local panny place had 42PZ80 in today - very impressed from normal viewing distance with a freeview feed, I'd pretty much settled on getting a W3000 or W4000 in may but I'm hurridly rethinking that now - the plasma certainly had a more natural feel to it.

I sit about 12ft away from the screen and any fast moving like footballers running or the ball with a shot on goal shows a blur "trail". Even when I switch to say Sky News, the tickertape at the bottom is blurry for a few seconds thenbecomes clear. The same thing happens to fast moving credits at the end of a film, blurred then clear.

I'm wondering if it's the set itself or the set up. I watch everything on freeview on a Digihome PVR80
