Hi chaps - Can I ask a rather simple and novice question please

My Aiwa XA-006 amp has a ground connection do I need to trail a wire ?

I dont get any hum from the deck but I do get alot of static esp from platter and cartridge/tonearm

Any help would be realy appreciated

My deck is a simple Aiwa pre-amp deck into a line in rather than phono due built in pre-amp

The ground pin on an amplifier is usually there to ground a record player, but in this case I would guess that your turntable is grounded to your amplifier by the rca phono leads.

Anyway, there is no reason not to try it, just connect the earth point to the earth pin on a 13amp plug and try it. If there is a problem it should be obvious at once, if it does not induce a hum, leave it in place and see if it reduces the static over time.
