Do they make a difference in quality of sound. No. Transparancy? To some extend.
Changing sound signature? To some extend, but marginally when they're up to the job.
Going beyond 20 pounds is pretty much the boundary imo, as different technologies like xlr offer more.
Above 50 I'd rather save it and invest in better speakers or tv.

but believe there are so many other variables as well I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. I see thiis poll becoming something of an angry mosh pit sooner rather than later. ;-)

iceman and drummerman talking audiophile wires on this video.

I too personally have noticed when playing Bach that with wrong audio cables lute-harpsichords start sounding like clarinets. That is of course unacceptable, which is why I now use double-shielded cables.

I am not sure to be honest I like to think they do my analog cables I use for my cd play were ex demo ones they were £125 but got them for £70 but then my old set were new when I got them they cost £50 new but I can not tell between the £125 set and the £50 set . So sorry I am unsure but I would like to say yes

as long as the cable is double shielded
