faulty panasonic plasma

My TH42pz80 has just developed a fault ... after being on for some time a coloured vertical bar about 3 " wide apears ,from top to bottom of the pannel , it can be any colour , but always stays the same colour . Also its always in the same place ??????

Any ideas [:'(]

Sounds unfortunately like the panel has failed it will get worse in time(more lines) its the internal connections to the screen failing, when the TV has warmed up causes them to expand and lose connection and is unrepairable unless the whole panel is replaced but I assume that would be over the cost of just buying new so they possibly would write it off.

You could try panasonic and see if they take pitty on you, otherwise a local plasma repair center to confim the fault but what you decribing its very much to put bluntly SHOT IT!

No extended warranty?

It could be an inherent problem with that model so best to check with Panasonic first.

Fortunatlly its under panasonic extended warrenty

.. But i have only just had a board replaced 3 moths ago so wonder if its conected ??. With 2 and a half years to go on my warrenty ill have a new tv by then .

I Wont be buying panasonic again though
