Just received my dragonfly red
Sounds good so far
Ordered from David at little audio company and arrived sooner than expected

I won't do a review but I'll say early impressions are good
Lovely warm sound that compliments my beyerdynamic pros very well.

Hi ellisdj

Look forward to the review

I have literally just got one as well and will be doing a review of it :)

I got it as when I'm at work I'm using 600 ohms earphones with a crappy laptop. Not ideal. So I had a choice different headphones or a dac/amp

I was going to ask you how you was using it - I wanted something to demo and review headphones on that was mainstream without crippling me with a high ££

I thought I would give it a try. I am using it on my work pc at the moment - I have put my spare jcat usb card in it and feeding it off that. I had a spare ifi ipower 5v so I am powering the jcat card off that.

Yesterday I was using power from the pc power supply a so called low noise fanless seasonic platnum atx psu but it sounded a bit rough to me. Clearer now using the ifi I power.

I am getting some ground loop noise with the Police Space One headphones when I acitvate the noise cancelling so I need to fix that because it must be there the whole time and that will help improve the sound.

Its got plenty of power I can tell that cant comment on it yet though - only minimal time with so far

Recommend adding the jitterbug, especially if your using it on a laptop. Can also be picked up pretty cheap.

I think it's a great dac/amp for the price the black is also great if you just use low impedance headphones.

With both of them you won't get home hifi quality but good enough to lose yourself in the music.

Just a warning to anyone who wants to use it with a otg phone. don't do with a phone with micro usb the connection will just wear out in a few months from walking think usb type c maybe more resilient.

Very interesting indeed. For such little money you can't go wrong. I suppose this will be perfect for anyone looking to built a computer based hi-fi system.

I bought the red recently also. It is a fantastic piece of kit, turning my cheapish android phone into a great flac player with the cheap usb audio player app.

Spotify to me sounds great from my laptop, as do flacs.

While the red may or may not be as good as the other option mentioned above, it works with phones, and sure isn't that what the internet is all about, make an assumption and statement with absolutely no real world evidence not having heard the red one

Yes, it's cheaper than the dragonfly black and wouldn't be surpriced if it sound better than the dragonfly red.

Like the nad 3020, really god sound for almost no money

Your just limited to minijack and what ever you can get, need at the other end and optical output (the one that looks like a mini jack)

If you say you speak to God then you are considered religious, if you say God speaks to you then you are considered psychotic...

Tak, gasolin.

I'll have a look and maybe I'll buy one (or even the cheaper model), to use as a DAC/headphone amp when I spend some weekends away from Lisbon.

For a few hours this morning
The dragonfly red is a great bit of kit. It's fun to listen with and a huge improvement over my beyerdynamic pros straight into the laptop by a mile.

It's a very full sound on the warm side, very head banging addictive sound and makes most my grunge, metal and rock recordings sound good.
What they are not is critical reference level detail retrieval tool. Compared to my benchmark it's lacking a top end bite and clarity across the board but its a huge price difference.

But I'll also say I'm using highly difficult to drive headphones.

I love it good purchase no regrets.

Now come in Ellis do a proper review in youtube

Cheers Andrew

One thing at a time - I need to test some more cans on it first, I only have access to 3 similar paairs at the minute - easy to drive cans.

But just to cheer you up I have some serious HiFi Porn coming for you all being well
