There is no such thing as a 1.3, 1.4 etc. cable. Standard or High Speed - with/without ethernet.

So tell me then, why at the top of the page you have given the very fist line says this? & i quote "With the release of the HDMI 1.4 specification, there are now five HDMI cable types to choose from"

Ok they do point out sort of later down the list of HDMI's your post, but surely thats a bit of a contradiction? not that i care, i did feel that i ought to point it out, as it made me laugh

Hi,all I get when I put the game on is a blank screen with the denon amp and 3d flashing up on the corner of the screen with the sound in the background.

As the Denon amp you have is not 3D enabled, so I would say that you have to go from the ps3 directly to the TV via HDMI & use the optical out of the ps3 for sound.

I'm sure someone will correct that if i'm wrong.

I would agree F1, the HDMI direct to the TV.

Just to clear this up, there is no such as a 1.3 or 1.4 HDMI cable. However, there very much is a 1.3 or 1.4 HDMI specification which is used to describe the capabilities of a device e.g. an AV amp may only have a 1.3 specification, so could not pass through 3D content, or have ARC capability, whereas an AV amp with a 1.4 specification would support both those things. The cable you'd use with either device would be the same however, i.e. one that is certified at High Speed.

This news story from last year indicates that companies should no longer be marketing cables with different 1.3 or 1.4 specifications to try and stop this sort of confusion. Unfortunately, the HDMI spec has been made so confusing, there's no chance of this any time soon.

It should work fine on both of the v1.3a amps you have, so long as you are not trying to put 3D through them.

It worked ok via hdmi on my Denon 1910 with the ps3 connected with no optical cable & the Onkyo TX-SR606 has the same tech specs on the hdmi connectons.
