Denon 1909 v Denon 2309

Does anyone know the main differences between these two amps?

Are there any reviews of the 2309 in the pipeline?

Here's an overview of the new Denon receiver range.

In short, the answer is the '2809 has more power plus multiroom support.

We've got the AVR-1509 and AVR-2809 due in any day, but not sure when we'll get the AVR-2309. I'm seeing Denon tomorrow, so will check.

Denon 2309 costs £600, 1909 is £450. Both have upconversion and scaling to 1080p and support HD audio, but the 2309 has a fourth HDMI input plus an extra power transformer, and delivers 100W/channel against the 1909's 90W/channel. More details here.

apart from more power what does the 2809 have over the 2309? Based on the specs alone, i'm trying to find out which would be more suitable for me.

But who knows if the 2309 and 2809 will perform against their competition as well as the AVR-1909? Remember we've got receivers in this price range to all test from Sony, Pioneer and Yamaha, as well as the Denons themselves!

But as Clare said, we've plenty of other receivers to test in this price range. In fact, we've just set-up Sony's new STR-DA2400ES (£500) and the Yamaha DSP-AX763 (also £500) ready for test inÿthe November issue of What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision. If I was you, I'd wait to see how those two get on before committing to a Denon (or any other) purchase.

Thanks Claire and Andy- I was getting a little impatient as I had bought a set of KEF3005SE's back in April and was on the verge of getting a Onkyo 606 at the same time when all this news about new Denon's and Sony's came about.

I guess I better wait a little while longer

The big difference between the 1909 and the 2309 as far as I am concerned is that the 2309 has phono input and the 1909 does not. I need phono input.

Don't forget that the 1909 doesn't have pre outs for right and left and the others do.
