Hey,

i've shortlisted two possible options for my recently purchased cottage... I'd like to know which you would pick, thank you.

(1) TV : Sony KDL32V5500

Home cinema package : LG HB354BS (size of room and proximity of neighbours rules out a separates system)

* would use freeview built in *

(2) TV : Sony KDL32V5500

* no home cinema package initially, would add yamaha soundbar at later date *

Sony BDPS360 blu ray player

Freesat HD box.

I'm swaying towards option 1, i'd really appreciate your views,

thanks very much!

Personally for myself I would look at an all in one system that could give you a 5.1 sound. I'm sure there would be one around with discrete speakers given that you don't have a lot of room. IMO that would perhaps give you a better sound experience with films.

Sorry I have not answered your question directly but then that is my opinion.

thank you for your reply,

i've sort of ruled out 5.1, as i presume they will mean more volume and thus more annoyed neighbours :p

however, if i found the right package i would be tempted, i would much prefer satellite speakers, but therefor would incur the cost of stands for the rears...

Just got myself the S360...guess I would go with option 2, ditch the freesat HD and go for sound bar or surround sound.

Hi,

Not sure why you assume a 5.1 system is going to be any louder than a 2.1 system?

I'd opt for the Panasonic SC-BT200 which comes with everything the LG does + a centre speaker, a set of surround speakers and according to the review, a better sound. If the unit can produce a cleaner sound, you won't need as much volume as you would need to hear a muddied system?

Small speakers included could sit higher up on a shelf at the rear of the listening position rather than on dedicated stands.

As always, audition for yourself to be sure you have made the correct decision.

Enjoy.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.

Ah, i see, thanks for your reply,

could you possibly point me in the right direction for some compatible wall mounts for the panasonic rears?

Thanks very much.

Hi,

A quick trip to your local Panasonic dealer would solve the problem - they should be able to point you in the right direction if there isn't an official set of stands.

As mentioned before, a shelf and some blutac would also do for the rears.

Cheers,

Cofnchtr.
