ChordOhmic plugs don't fit in my amp

Am I going crazy? Bought some chord rumour x cables with pre-wired ohmic plugs. I can't get them into my amp or speakers :confused_old:

Should I just use force & not worry? That seems like the kind of tactic where I break expensive things...

Have you used banana plugs in that amp before? When new, they should have little red and black blanking plugs in, to stop kiddies prying.

You can prise them out with a compass point or narrow pliers, tweezers etc. Try unscrewing the brassy barrels first to see if you can find them.
Yeah existing cable had banana plugs. These guys fitted no problem

I am in the same situation.

I cannot get the Chord Rumour X connectors to fit into either my speakers or my amp. I’ve tried several times and no go.

Help please

With the plugs out, just make sure the spring does actually push into the pin body - you'll find that it takes some doing.

Then it's a case of push harder into the terminals - because they will go.

As others have advised, they do need a bit of effort to push in. But the benefit is once in, they do provide a good solid connection.

I much prefer the spring bar type speaker plug because of that.

Return the Chord cables and purchase some well made cables on ebay that use Belden or van damme cable and good connectors. You are just paying for marketing when you buy Chord, Nordost, Audioquest etc.

You're not going nuts, banana plugs come in different sizes 3mm or 4mm. I suspect your binding posts are 3mm?
Sorry for the obvious and I believe it was already mentioned in the above comments , have you tried unscrewing the binding post, once loose, try to fit it in and tighten?
I think the Chord plugs are designed to fit all sizes, I think the answer lies with Linns binding posts, try loosening first.

Failing that and all the advice above, you could return cable back to vendor or get yourself smaller banana plugs and custom wire these yourself.

His photo shows an Elicit amp Jason.
We know Rega like to be different but you bet they'll be 4mm 👍

@Hondoe1950 also mentions problems inserting RumourX plugs into his amp and speakers.
It's just that type of plug - I've had the same issue - though some reckon it makes for better contact.

They were given the name for a reason.
As far as I'm concerned, a genuine banana plug needs to be gold and look like an unzipping banana.

That's a fair comment Gray, thanks for clarifying.
