There was only one person that was actually serious in the last 5 or so posts.
Guess who?
Clue: they don't own Cambridge audio, AVI or talk with an American accent.

Christ Amighty! This thread has put me off Cyrus for life . .

i have a Cyrus CD Xt Signature, a DACless transport, which I am very pleased with. Played through the same DAC I cannot distinguish between it and my RPi HiFiBerry Digi+ running Volumio. I don't find this surprising. I had a home loan of their then top of the range DAC Amp (pre Signature range) and hated it. Very unpleasant and tiring to listen to. As a consequence I tend to turn off to 'advice' from Cyrus fanatics.

Tried s cyrus 8 with pmc gb1 personally found it too bright and didn't handle classical to well, but that is only personal opinion.

Same here at first thought the sound was great with ATC 40/19s
But the love only lasted 5 min
Something about the top end that was not right.
Was nowhere near as controlled as the Hegel or as clear for that matter either.

Must admit I wanted to listen to a cyrus for a long time and really wanted to like it so I was a bit disappointed to say the least. Then I got my creek and been a happy bunny since.

Another thing about Cyrus I don't quite get it's half size cases and to get the best it's normally recommended to get the additional power supply so why can't they supply a full size case containing both with adequate shielding if needed.

which one did you listen too. 8 dac? Signature stuff a lot better than all the cyrus 'cooking' amps.

A lot of the tastes in hi fi are too rounded bassyness with no treble, for me not right. Depends on speaker matching so you can never really say an amp doesn't work, as it's on the matching. I wouldn't expect Cyrus to sound right with some spendors which are toppy.

There isn't a 'basic 8 amp' . Anyway, Some of those older ones are not great compared to newer stuff, particularly signature stuff.

My friends Tucana not as good as my Cyrus signature pre and signature mono power amps, we compared, but then in a totally different price bracket.

actually quite smart, cuts down on production costs, keeps everything standard to keep costs low, and not every hi fi component needs power supplies e.g. High power power amps. Also you can then sell the power supplies (psx-r) additionally but lots of people buy these cheaply on eBay etc. The case is shielded by a magnesium alloy design, items mounted upside down. I think they get made by a specialist Swedish firm in Sweden.

I suppose it does but lots of people buy similar brand stuff for system matching like with your creek, so it's katching for Cyrus.

I'm going way off this thread, how about a Cyrus thread so people can rubbish or compliment it.
