Cyrus : differences between CD players Xt SE and SE2

what are the differences between the Cyrus CD player Xt SE and Xt SE2 ?

Mechanical / technical or only software ?

i'd phone cyrus, they are pretty good at taking this sort of question and getting a techie to phone you back fairly sharpish.

Some people reported problems with the slot loading mechanisms on early CD XT-SE models, which I think were fixed by Cyrus under warranty and did not affect later CD XT-SE units. I think the SE2 was basically the same as the fixed CD XT-SE with a software upgrade as well, but check with Cyrus.

If you're buying a used CD XT-Se check it's not been affected by the loading problem and / or has been fixed under warranty.

As I understand it, the SE bit is the software and so the SE2 is a later/upgraded version.

There was an issue with some non-Red Book CDs with SE. SE2 fixed that.

I bought a second hand Xt SE, and now better understand the differences with its successor SE2

I'll contact my local Cyrus resailer for faisability of the sofware service update to SE2 (is this a local intervention ?).

I'll also query about the available mechanical / technical upgrade path (via a return to the factory) as many Cyrus products are upgreadable.

Might be worth waiting until the CDXT Signature upgrade becomes available, see how much that costs.

Upgrade from SE to SE2 will cost around 400-euro (circa 335-gbp).

In September 2013.

Worth waiting about the upgrade CD Xt SE to the new CD Signature model.

However currently my vendor (in Luxembourg) does not have more information, or even possibility for a such upgrade, from Cyrus.
