Cyrus and 4 ohm impedance

I've only ever combined 8 ohm speakers with my Cyrus kit. Mainly this is due to most speakers having that impedance but also because once in a demo room the dealer said that a 4 ohm speaker would draw more current and have more distortion. ''Distortion?!"*shok*

Years back when I'd idle away time on the Cyrus configurator, it would suggest Vienna Acoustic speakers as a possible system match. These are 4 ohm impedance.

I get googly-eyed at the Dali Epicon 2 speakers. They get a very good write up and look stunning. But Dali appear to go down the path of 4 ohm impedance too.

Does anyone have or has anyone experienced Cyrus plus 4 ohm speakers?

If so, how do they get on?

What SQ and technical difference would there be vs 8 ohm speakers?

I'd say it'd be an issue if you were using the integrated amplifiers, but you shouldn't have any issues with their power amps. The Rubicons seem to be quite forgiving, and yes, they sound great. I'd certainly take this combo over the much mentioned combination with Dynaudio (although that was back when the Audience 42 and 52 were around). Things have changed a lot since then.

Many speakers these days are nominal 4ohm despite some manufacturers stating otherwise.

I have mostly used 4ohm speakers in my systems, including cyrus integrated amps.

No problem.

Drummerman ... interesting about you mainly using 4 ohm speakers. I'll value your feedback as a fellow Cyrus listener.

The same dealership who was trying to explain impedance to me was a sound engineer by trade. He told me many 8 ohm speakers could drop as low as 5 ohm after being run for long enough.

So possibly I'll demo 4 ohm in the future ... if and when I consider swapping over the PMC to where I have the GX50

(Actually, the other day the dealer was enticing me with his ex-demo 803 Diamond that he connected up to some Cyrus Mono X 200 Signature. Sounded absolutely superb ... but the cost was totally unjustifiable)

If I think about it, it's obvious that a quality company like DALI has spent years tuning their 4 ohm speakers and perfecting design, materials etc.
