I need to know the correct connections for sound. goldring gl69 to aiwa hi fi then to leak amp 30plus.

Please explain Aiwa hifi and why that's in the set-up.
All of the rest is very old, does it still work?
I'd be very interested to know how you are planning to attach speakers to the Leak Stereo 30 plus amp.

Thanks for your response.
yes it all works.
i dismantled it when decorating and possibly lost a cable?.have had it all since new and the sound is very good.
the goldring gl69 is connected to the aiwa nsx-d858 hifi set. but to get sound it has to run though a separate amp.the leak sandwich mini speakers 8ohm are connected to the stereo unit.
everything works but for the sound when playing a record.
sound for everything else is good.

Is there one in the Aiwa?
And not one in the Leak?
(We know there's one somewhere, if your turntable was previously working).

From what you said in your most recent post, the TT was connected to the Aiwa.
If so, there must be an input specifically marked 'PHONO' on it.
(Although it looks like it's one of those little stacks with interconnecting ribbon cables 🤨 so you need to check and advise).

Why is the Aiwa there was my question.
Why add a mini system into a system that includes an integrated amplifier.

The Leak amp already has a phono stage so why isn't that used?
How is the mini system connected to the Leak?
Doesn't make any sort of logical sense.

I would like to see photos of where this missing cable connected. As this would give us an idea as to what you have lost.


I would not be connecting those three items with anything.

My guess would be that he wants the various sources on the Aiwa - but prefers the sound of the Leak.
Aiwa has got a rec out so presumably that's what feeds the Leak and gives him the best of both worlds 🤔

yes the way i had it set up was to have the best of all the options.ie.disc/tape/radio. and records.all worked until i tried to reassemble, then i came unstuck. i should have taken a picture before tacking apart.
i will keep on trying.will get there somehow.

All you need do is post a good picture of your Aiwa back panel and we'll get you there Peter.

Out of interest, have you ever tried the turntable via the Leak's own phono input?

Thanks for feedback. I couldn't work our why you had kit connect as such in the first instance.
KISS is best approach, that is keep it simple....

Hi. Thanks all.Shortly after recieving your last message,i decided to try again and realised that i should have connected to right and left on the amp.sure enough i got SOUND. Great.
I am now enjoying my records once again.

We're still none the wiser on how you had things connected or whether you've compared phono preamps 🤔

It sounds like Al ears response triggered some memory. It looks like he is trying to say the record player connects directly to the Leak, and the mini system also connects to the Leak, but he had tryed to connect the record player to the mini system and it wasn't working.
