I owned some B&W DM602 S3 for a few years, and thought they were the dogs with my NAD gear. However, nothing that they did compared to the D18s, which whilst not the deepest reaching floorstanders are fantastically balanced and musical. Never auditioned the C23 so cannot compare, but the point about speakers being an individual preference is very true, and the matching of the amp has a big effect. I'm sure the D18s with the wrong amps would indeed sound "sh***" to some ears, and I'd suggest that the Rotel is not up to the job to do them or the C23 justice. My advice is always listen to amps and speakers as a pairing when demoing stuff, as this is how you're going to use it in the real world of your listening room. Forum and web expert reviews can be very misleading
