Hi

I have a Panasonic TH-42PZ81B plasma TV

Last year I bought a upgrade power cable Clearer audio copper alpha for my amp and I found a hugh difference in the quality.

Recently I decided to try the same cable out with the TV

I change the fuse to the one I use for the TV and pluged it in

Unfortunately the TV wouldn't even power up.

I've seen some topics on the forum about the female connection not fitting, but this seems to fit perfectly ( aside from not having the panasonic clips)

Has anyone else experienced this, or am I overlooking something really obvious?

Cheers

I have tried this on a Panasonic G15 that I owned. I used a coiled kettle cable and got some improvements because of greater RFI immunity.

The angled socket is a problem, a standard connector will droop in the socket which will give a bad contact and possibly cause arcing.
I hope your TV survived your experiment?

Is the AC cable you used 0.75mm2 in conductor diameter? that is a minimum to power this Plasma TV.

A standard IEC connection can be made to work by wedging Blu Tack (or similar) beneath the IEC connector to ensure the plug maintains the sloped angle of the socket. This is not foolproof by any means, if the cable is tugged at it will become unsafe!!

The whole reason Panasonic provides grips on their IEC cable is for safety. In the interests of safety I would suggest you stick with this.

You would reap far more benefits by installing a filtered power block, Monster do a 2 way one for £39.95 approx.

I had an extensive look into this when I bought my G15 earlier this year, as I quite like pretty cables. My conclusion was to forget about it and use the supplied lead. Any solution (such as jamming in the cable as you seem to have done) means risking breaking the TV and invalidating the warranty - don't bother.

Thanks,

I already have a mains conditioner by tacima.I'm assuming this is similar to the monster block you are referring to .

But it sounds like too much hassle to start putting blu tac in the back of the TV

knowing my luck i'll blow the TV

Thanks for the advice
