Dear Clare,

I know you've commented that the Panasonic has a slighter better Freeview tuner than the Sony. Is that only the case for the onboard tuner? I rarely watch TV live, but through a PVR. Is the better picture on the Panasonic for Freeview due to it's better upscaling ability, or would the Sony look equally good as the Panasonic when receiving a Freeview image from a PVR or from a Sky+ box, or in time from a Freesat recorder? Any info gratefully received!

Many thanks

Well there's nowt wrong with the Sony's upscaling - its DVD performance (which just pips the Pana) is evidence of that. Then, of course, there's the issue of it having to do just that slight less bit of upscaling, due it being 40in not 42in!

I just think Panasonic's in-built TV tuners are particularly good - that applies to its 800-range LCDs, too.

And what about the likes of Sky SD via scart. How do the two TVs compare?
