I'm in the market for speaker cable to connect an Onkyo CR515 to a pair of Q Acoustics 1010's.

With a system like this (ie not exactly high end hi fi!) is it worth using something like Chord Company Silver Screen or should I stick to the Gale stuff they sell in Richer Sounds or even QED Micro?

While we're on the subject - is really worth putting banana plugs on the cables? They'll be screwed on to the terminals anyway and surely a banana plug is just another connection? (If you see what I mean!).

Thanks in advance.

The Gale cable is actually quite good IMHO - and I can recommend banana plugs - it makes life so much easier when connecting things up (especially in tight spaces).

If they are good quality plugs, termination is not really an issue, so long as they are secured tightly to the cable.

I usually (space permitting) fold the copper wire back on itself before inserting into the plug - this makes for a very snug fit.
