Vel du sikkert har brukt bare de billigst kabler i dit system og vil aldri bruke mer få å sjekke hvis det er mulig til å høre bedre lyd fra din annlegg. Det var litt morsom at du hadde skrevde litt norsk lol! Takk få det!

God natt!

Most things are balanced there. And the studios use active speakers mostly. There are many studios using certain brands and they don't really invest (at least not always) in the most expensive gear.

Ask yourself another question does every CD you buy sound great? Probably not, and the mastering in those studios is probably done on inferior quality rigs.

What bearing does having active speakers have on mains cables?

The auto correct thing is insane I meant Well Ben. Lol never mind!

Off to to bed as it's 23:36 and I'm getting tired! My quest to get some feedback for the Red Wave mains cable has turned into some sort of assault on all things cables!

Theres been some funny people here and some that obviously feel ripped off in the past by claims that a cable will make their systems incredible only for them to return home and hear no difference. Funniest thing is that might of been the case there was no difference ( in their system) too many factors to take into account if you are to hinge your system upon a manufacturers claim.

always try before you buy! Never assume that every system will have the same improvement (if experienced) as this is not the case! Some systems polluted, others are very good and have no noticeable changes when shifting cables unless you exchange with a supplied in the box cable! Anything should improve on those cables!

I'm sure the terms Snake oil, hype, rubbish and a whole host of abusive saying will be banded around for time to come. It is sad that many decent people have Ben ripped off by over priced products and have not experienced the increase in performance nor satisfaction. They were lead to believe they would! These are the people in this thread launching they're sniping attacks, I'm not the supporter of the rip off market , I do believe in spending more than the supplied cable amount and I make my own. Sometimes I'll buy the bulk wire as the DH labs power plus is so cheap at $8 a foot it's hardly a rip off! The Red wave is 8 x more in the bulk form and 3 x more in the terminated form! Now that's the rip off ;)

The proof is in the listening and this is one of the most subjective topics in the Audio world. Because the 'Shade of Grey' (Not the book lol!) it is a matter of some do, some don't, some will & some won't that prevails. Many have tried and have had no change,; does this mean that all cables are alike? Absolutely not, it means I'm their experience with those cables they've tried within their system they've had little if any noticeable difference.

why should someone get a difference and others not? Too many factors to list and if you've heard any differences chances are you'd spot an improvement or worsening in the systems quality when presented with a better quality cable. not all systems respond equally to different cables, some are able to convey the characteristics, traits, strength or weaknesses better the pan others. Again material can be key to experience! I've heard little if any difference when sat listening for the slightest effect when changing cables to hear anything and many occasions heard nothing. Other occasions cables are slightly different but nothing wor spending a krone on.

Its a minefield of smart triumphs at best., but on a real special occasion something truly transforms the systems sound from a shade to a colour or an open window!

and this (is noticeable) to a trained ear

This is the oft used and totally unconvincing argument. "Trained ear". Or even your handle, "Golden Ears"

The fact is you would struggle, along with anyone else on the forum or staff, to differentiate any 2 cables (assuming they are both fit for purpose) in a blind test.

One reason nobody ever took James Randi's million dollar challenge.

And if someone is desperately trying to improve a system with wires...then there is something inherently wrong with it, or the person chasing a rainbow.

Here in Norway they've started a new streaming lossless service called WIMP (Hifi) I think they'll be moving Europe wide. It's very good and not the expensive.

That's the one thing I can agree with. WiMP is very good quality (256 Kbps AAC), comparible if not better SQ to Spotify.

So soon as they introduce gapless and stop the irritating logging off of other machines when you log in, I'm in.

(Spotify allows you to be logged in, but not play on 2 machines, which is much more user friendly).

WIMP is now streaming ALAC to Idevices & FLAC to Android & soon PC. If an album has songs that blend tracks there's always the drop between tracks, that said the majority are not mastered this way so for me all is good. The 256 bit rate was fine but very easy to tell from CD especially on tracks using out of phase in their production. The Amused to Death album is a very good example of how different a lower bit rate can be.

As for this test here I've mains & speaker cables that I can identify within my system and even non interested listeners have said there hear the difference if not blown away that there is a difference. Your stand point that the system is lacking for the need to change cables is not entirely without merit. I've often felt I could squeeze more out of my system and whilst experimenting have in fact done just that.

As as for claims of identifying 'cables by their signature' I can not nor have I claimed anywhere that I hear differences in every cable. There are many cables that have little if any impact on the system. But I can say 100% that I have several cables that do have an effect on the sound and these (so far) I could identify as I've heard the difference time after time and visitors (sceptics as well) have ton acknowledge these difference have been very noticeable.

So I assume you've felt ripped off in the past and that is a boat all of us have been in. I don't say listen with your wallet and that's a waste of money however I do say that you can experience differences between cables that is a fact regardless as to weather you personally have heard any or not. It would be arrogant fir anyone to insist another can or cannot hear the asme they do. And in this same vain it is the same the other way only a fool can think that their perception is always correct and that they know the other person cannot hear anything.

If you're ever in Bergen a Norway drop a line I'd welcome you to experience a cable test here if your ears are up to it you'll hear a difference. I can demonstrate mains cables (this the most far fetched claim!) and speaker cables. I do gave a pair of interconnectors that alter the sound more than others but have no desire to plug and change those ;)

Open your mind to new experience and you'll be pleasantly surprised one day. The minefield is littered with claims of audio perfection. You can only make opinions on your experiences. That's why it's such a heated debate. No 2 people hear the same and no 2 think alike. So it his is a battle of opinions, many people wrongly assume spending tons on a cable will mean they have better sound, wrong not all cables make a deifferen. Win all systems. Sure occasionally a cable has an impact on someone's system, who knows why? I can't claim to know that, I have however experienced over and over again cables impacted an audio systems performance.

those who are in a bubble have already forged their opinions. And the funny thing to me is I wonder why these people spend lots on the audio equipment as cleRly everything sounds the same to them, or am I missing something? Do they hear quality and differences between systems? If their option that wires are all the same then components by that definition are also all the same and spending money on a system costing several thousand pounds is mute as they'd hpof been hearing them same for £50. Oh well this fit for the purpose brigade will have difficult explaining why they spend more than the cheapest as quality has nothing to done with anyhpthing as everything is clear as daylight to them. They probably have a generic term for everyone who has experienced something the py deem impossible because they simply have not.

Chnaging cables does not mean you even goin to enjoy the new sound. It may even sound worse. Room acoustics makes a very big difference to sound than any cable can do. FACT!!... Yes mixing & matching systems is fun, but can be a nightmare as well. Using the right cables & so forth. I think thats why some people use active speakers & also the reason why its used mostly in music studios to monitor music..

The problem is, even if the new cable you just purchased does make a difference in sound you properly can not hear it due to bad room acuostics. Revebrations will mess with the little differnces the cables make in sound.

some people cnt hear as well as others, just like some people canot see as well as others.. FACT!!

Lastly, so it seems to me people are more concerned about cables than room acoustics. So it makes sense if you really concerned about the differnce cables make your room acoustics should be in check first & foremost.

Pretty much inline with my feeling. Sure room acoustics affect sound in most cases more than a cable, doesn't detract from the fact you can still (with certain material) identify deiferences. Pop music can be the hardest to hear differences as the compressed false sound is more subjective than objective.

As far as changing cables it's a hobby I strive to find cables that genuinely have a positive impact and as of late have found a couple that have done this in all the systems I've tried. This us a rarity! I hVe had varying results when experimenting but until I came across these (non store bought) combinations have never had such a consistent difference.

what, like the differences you are hearing are all in your head and not the cables? Like far out man.... ;)

(point being if you are asking people do it one way, you should have the courtsey to be open the other way as well!)
