Getting set up to go into HD viewing for the first time. Found the TV that I simply need...the Samsung LE40B550, but the BD Player is the biggest problem I'm having. I need it to be region unlocked, so does anyone know of any good ones or decent budget locked players that are fairly easy to unlock? Is the Sony BDP-S560 an unlockable player? It seems like a great player for the price, can anyone comment on it?

Thanks

How about a Sony BDP-S360 ? It got a five star rating on here when priced at £180.00 and can now be bought for around £110.00 from Richer Sounds ;

from 'Amazon chat' - seems you will also need a 'oneforall remote'.

to make the BDP-S360 region free:

1. Use the remote that came
with the player to bring the player out of standby, make sure there
isn't a disc in it.
2. Press 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on the oneforall remote.
The 24p light will start flashing. (Centre light)
3. Put the player
back into standby with the Sony remote.
4. Hard reboot machine
(remove power)to prevent the 24p light flashing indefinitely.
5. Next
time you turn on the player it will be region free for DVD playback.

and that i believe will only make it region free for DVDs

for Blu region free you need to spend more money on a hardware fix. ( this seems to apply for most BD players).

In a lot of cases the hardware fix for multiregion Blu ray invalidates the warranty,so buy from a dealer who will support the mod.
