Just purchased a Marantz 5003 amp and some Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 speakers.

Im looking for a DAB tuner to go with it, there doesnt seem to be much of a budget range though

The Tangent DAB200 is the only one I can find under £150.

Anyone had any experience of the Tangent DABs? Or can you recommend something else for me to look at?

There's a Harman-Kardon tuner for £149.95 available in-store only. No idea what it's like but should be OK.

I was thinking about DAB until I started playing radio through my freeview box to my hifi which seems to be much better quaility than my past DAB experiences (although this was on a Onkyo mini system). I think most people on here regard DAB as rather bad quality sound due to the bit rates used. If you have a freeview box you could improve the sound on that with a V DAC for just over £100 I think which I know some people use on here. The V DAC would also improve sound of other digital devices so you could use it to improve computer based music via your ihfi if you were so inclined!
That said you could pick up a pure DRX-701ES or the earlier Cambridge audio DAB 300 or 500 for around £50-£70 on that well known auction site.

Last month they were also selling the Denon 1800DAB for £150 via an advert in some of the hifi mags and on the VIP e-mails. May be an idea to sign up just in case they do it again. This has won lots of awards; I think three years in a row in What hifi.

Andy Clough:I'd definitely take a look at the Denon TU-1800DAB if you can find one in the sales at a decent price.

There's a secondhand one going at the moment, up in 5 hours or so, starting off at £110. Still no bids.
