Hi all,

I know nothing about this subject at all, so would appreciate any helpful comments to sway me one way or the other.

As you can see from my signature I have a Naim CD5XS CDP, which I am very happy with, but I am looking for a bit more depth and detail to what I'm hearing.

Firstly would the DAC give me this? and if so which one is better? I know the Naim is a lot more expensive, but does that necessarily mean better results?

Thank you in advance.

If the DAC is only going to be for improving your CD then don't bother.

How about a recent (2008) example of the CDX2 (£3466 new) on ebay for £1470 on 'buy it now' and still have the money from your CD5XS when you sell it?

Bargain!

(Nothing to do with me or anyone I know I should add.)

Better than forking out £2040 for a DAC that may (or may not) improve things.

Thanks Chebby, the dealer did in fact suggest that as an option. Not really in a position to splash the cash yet, but will certainly bare it in mind.

If you're spending that kind of money, go audition instead. 🙂
