BBC I-Player widget

Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place for this or even if its been asked before but cannot find a definitive answer.

Are widgets for an internet ready TV hard coded to the TV itself and therefore not upgradable? I have a Samsung UE46B8000 and although I'm happy with the picture it would be a much better experience if there was a connection to BBC I-Player for catching up on missed programs.. Or is there an easier way to watch I-Player than on a laptop.

Yes, most widgets come built-in to the TV. But you could add a Blu-ray player with BBC iPlayer incorporated, such as the Sony BDP-S570, or an external Freesat/iPlayer set-top box from the likes of Humax if you have a satellite dish. Virgin Media delivers iPlayer via its cable TV network.
