Hey guys im seriously considering getting a PV1 sub to add on to my 805S but also considering selling up and buying a new set of speakers. Thing is i LOVE the 805S and ill be loathed to loosing them. Also ill have half an av set up if i buy the sub and can add the rears and an av amp at a later date.

SO,

1) Has anyone heard the 805S with a sub (especially PV1)?

2) Any other floorstander at around 1800 (new or used) that would better the above? Especially in terms of bass and overall sound quality...

Cheers and many thanks in advance!!

Another suggestion would be to add two small subs, possibly positioning them at the bottom rear of each stand. You would get pseudo full range speakers that would remain faithful to stereo whilst giving you lots of welly. I'm looking into Velodyne's small offerings to achieve this.

Personally I think you should hang on to the 805s and look into subs. The combo will work well but will require some effort and thought in set up. I suspect that you can get a sound to suit the room acoustics more than chancing floor standers.

Right, back to the stove and G&T

I think it's drummerman (but don't shoot me if i'm wrong) that has said a few times: 'Most speakers stand mounts or floorstanders, can bebefit from a sub'

From which theory, i'd say you'd bee safer going for the pv1 than maybe being in the same position with whatever floorstanders you got.

Have to say i hardly ever feel like i need more bass from my tab 8 ref sig's, even with the more dancy likes of daft punk.

I use my PV1 with my 602 S3s, as well as using it with the rest of the MT-30 A/V package.

I'd say if you love the 805s, then keeping them and getting a PV1 is a great idea. Much more versatility than floorstanders as you can tweak levels and frequencies until the cows come home to get the sound you're after. You can't do that with floorstanders.

I have mine connected to the switched 'Sp 2' connections, so I can disconnect it at the touch of a button.....Not that I ever do (Well, Radiohead can be a bit bass overload at times.)

As I said earlier, I have it doing both jobs. It's connected in the usual way via co-ax to my A/V amp for cinema duties, and it's connected by the supplied cable to the speaker terminals of my Hi-fi amp. Oddly, I've trawled the manual and can't find anything stating whether you're able/allowed to run it with both connections connected at the same time, but I've had it running this way for months and had no problems (although I'm very careful to ensure one source is off before playing the other).
