AV amp with component to HDMI conversion?

A friend of mine wants to buy an AV amp to run amongst other things an XBOX outputting Component video (not sure if its HD).

Are there any decent amps about the £300 mark that will convert analoge to digital HDMI possibly with resonable upconversion capabilities?

Ideally he just want to run a single HDMI to the TV and do all the switching/routing/decoding on the amp.

Sony STR D2400ES on offer on Play.com does conversion AND upscaling and was a 5 star product on here not too long ago. I love mine!

Just to confirm it will digitize the analogue XBOX signal into HDMI - Right?

Page 34 in the manual. 'Resolution' has to be set to AUTO. Video input thru component will then be upconverted automatically to the maximum resolution of the tv connected via HDMI
