Audio Analogue Crescendo

Just contacted my regular dealer and gave him my requirements. He has in stock the above amp which seems, on paper at least, to fulfill all my criteria. If I get the time next week I'll audition it, in the meantime just looking for some insight.

Anyone heard this amp, if so, is it any good?

Cheers, pp

Haven't heard them but have heard most of the other AA amps. AA understand music, and that's what you get with their amps. Thy're not in yer face stuff like too much British gear these days - you need hours of careful listening to realise just how good they are.

plastic penguin:... The reviews have mentioned about it being laid-back in character. ..

... which just gave me another idea for a thread. To appear shortly and totally non-confrontational this time, promise.

I thought you'd chosen your new kit, PP. You still unsure what to bank on?

If it's anything like my Maestro Settanta, it will be warm and involving. Mine was a bit better than the Arcam A85/P85 biamped combo. Now on fleabay.

Every Audio Analogue product I heard has a very warm and musical sound. Almost sound like valves.

Great for classical and jazz music. Not so great for other music styles.

the Paganini CDP was excellent when I tried it out a couple of years ago, sadly Mrs. R_S was less than impressed. The Puccini SE amp was less impressive, not particularly warm either, more like a drier version of my then Marantz PM6010-KI which wasn't good with the other two components at the time.

The Crescendo gear looks pretty impressive though and the amp's quite similar in finish to the Cambridge A I thought, with that clean cut finish. Nice gear though, very desirable.

I always rely on a female's intuition.

Think I'll give it a whirl next week and see how it stacks up.
