Hi all,

My current system is: cd player Arcam cd62, dvd player Marantz dv7001, AV receiver Arcam avr250, front speakers B&W CM7 and CM1 rears. I like listen to music as much as watch movies so I'm trying to find the best compromise of both. When I have recently bought a marantz player I found it sounds as good as my arcam player so now I'm thinking about selling arcam cd62 and upgrade to Arcam cd192. My goal is to get better cd sound (but not changing my Arcam receiver that I'm satisfied with). I wonder is cd192 too good for my Arcam receiver and shall I get so much better cd sound with it? Thanks for any comments and I hope you'll help me to solve my dilemma.

Id say the CD192 would be overkill as its going thru an AV amp.

Either look at the CD72, which again would be a sideways step or look to add the Beresford DAC.

I disagree. It is an AV amp, but it is an Arcam. They are known for their muscial ability, so I think the CD192 would be a worthwhile upgrade.

They are known for their musical ability but as you said, its an AV amp so the stereo sound quality will never be as good as a true stereo amp such as the A90 or FMJ A32 or any other Arcam Alpha/DiVA/FMJ amp.

The CD192 is a cracking CDP but i'd say the cost for that and running it through an AV amp isnt justifiable. The CD72 would be just as good for a lot less £££.
